Play The Music is the home of my musical activities. It is where my own musical endeavours as Lefty come together with events that I arrange and news about my friends.

Acoustic Showcase - It's Coming!

It's official!!!

Simon Black has handed me the baton and on the 26th January 2008 I will be hosting my first proper Acoustic Showcase at the Norwich Arts Centre. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thank you to Simon Black and Phil Rowe for all their work in building up the showcase.

These showcases take place once a month on a Saturday afternoon from 1pm until 4pm and each showcase will feature 4 acts, in the Cafe Bar of the Arts Centre.

Come visit the website and get the banner.

April and her BMW

My very good friend, April Elizanbeth has become the voice of this German BMW advert.

I'm over the moon for her and I just had to re-post the videoclip.

April and her excellent percussionist, Garry Pinches will be performing in Norwich in September at Go Acoustic & The Black Cat Club. If you can make it along, you'll be in for a treat!

My People's Playlist on Future Radio 96.9FM

Hi everyone, I recorded a People's Playlist show for Future Radio recently. The show was broadcast last Saturday and a few people have asked me if they could hear it again. Well, officially you can't hear it again, but I've struck a deal with the devil and promised the radio station that all my friends would go to their website and fill in a form to present their own people's playlist shows.

If you want to stream my show (the show is 50 minutes long, but will start playing instantly in Window Media Player), CLICK HERE

(You might have to temporary allow Pop Ups by press the CTRL as you click the link.)

If you want to download my show as an MP3 (this will take 15-20 minutes with broadband), CLICK HERE

Future Radio - People's Playlist featuring ME (& you too!)

Earlier today, I visited Future Radio's studio in Norwich to record a radio show, which hopefully will be transmitted on the 11th August (3pm). Future Radio transmits in Norwich on 96.9FM or anywhere in the world on www.futureradio.co.uk. They have been broadcasting test transmissions, but are going live on 6th August!

This show is called the People's Playlist and involved me picking my 12 favourite songs and talking about them. The good thing is ANYONE can have a go at presenting a People's Playlist show. Just go along to http://www.futureradio.co.uk/thepeoplesplaylist.html and fill in your details and your list of songs. Terry Lee or one of his colleagues will be back in touch with you and you too can get your voice heard on the radio.

Jon Roniger's New Song Every Week!

Those of you who know me, know that I have a good friend in California called Jon Roniger. He is a fantastic songwriter and musician, and we were lucky enough to have him play earlier this month at the Acoustic Showcase in Norwich.

Jon is currently in the process of uploading a new song each week to his Sonap account and you can find out more at his blogspot:-http://jonroniger.blogspot.com/

These songs are fantastic and should be all over the radio in the US and Europe. Jon does it because he enjoys it and it really shows in his music and his performance. In this day and age of technology we are lucky enough to be able to find music from all over the universe, but it is often all too difficult to find the gems amongst the ocean of resources that washes down our ADSL channels. Allow me to serve up this gem on a silver platter for you. Go fish for Jon Roniger!

The party ain't started quite yet!

Hi, I'm Jason Burgess, AKA Lefty - the lovable Norfolk muso and friend of the musos. I've been involved with Go Acoustic on and off since last summer and I have some other musical plans in the bag.

The main plan is that I will be taking over the monthly Acoustic Showcase at the Norwich Arts Centre in the new year, so keep an eye open for that.

If I have any other musical frivolity to report about the activities of myself or my friends, they will also appear here!
